G2E 2016 Preview - 11 - Everi (Formerly Multimedia)

When I started this series of articles about what to expect at G2E this year, I did not realize other bloggers were also sharing information about the slot manufacturers and their games on line.   Since then I have discovered a well-respected member of slot fanatics that goes by the name SlotM has posted several very interesting press releases on some of these same companies. Even if you are not a member of slot fanatics, you can read his articles on line at the slot fanatic site. If you are a member, you can make comments as well. Spend enough time browsing on the slot fanatics web site, and you'll probably decide you want to join the group yourself. This is the last of these G2E preview posts -- not because I've run out of companies to talk about but because the convention starts September 26 and it's a long drive to Las Vegas and I've a lot to do before I go.  Hope to meet some of you there.

Everi (formerly Multimedia)
Booth 1116

Everi is planning to debut seven new slot games based on powerful licensed brands at Global Gaming Expo next week. You'll be viewing (1) Penn and Teller, (2) Casablanca, (3) Fruit Ninja, and four titles  based on DreamWorks Classics, (4) Underdog, (5) Richie Rich, (6) Casper the Friendly Ghost, and (7) Hot Stuff, the Little Devil.) Let's take a few minutes to talk a little about each of them.

Here's big news for the Native American Casinos who favor Class II slots - sometimes called "bingo slots."  The first two of the new games, Penn and Teller and Casablanca, are being offered as WAP games for Class II markets. But in addition these are Everi's first ever WAP (wide area progressive) games offered as premium daily lease games for a fee. They have a local-area progressive top prize for Class III markets. I won't say much about the cabinets except to point out that in addition to all the other features, the Empire MPX will include two USB phone or media device recharging docks. You won't be able to miss the games. Look for the 65-inch full HD overhead Foundation sign!

(1) Penn and Teller is a 5x5 reel video slot, based on the magical entertainment of the pair who have entertained gamblers in Vegas for over four decades. There are eight exciting bonus features including the Class II Wide Area Progressive. Here's the big news. To support the launch, Penn and Teller will visit Everi's booth 1116 on the G2E show floor on September 27 for the slot machine's official ribbon cutting ceremony.

(2) Casablanca ranks second in the American Film Institute's 100 Greatest American Movies of All Time.  Maybe someday the game will too. The timeless romantic drama was released in 1942, the same year I was born. Some entertainment is timeless. The slot is a five-reel, 40-line, video game with multiple exciting features including the Rick's Cafe bonus with the classic song "As Time Goes By."  Romance on the casino floor!  Play it again, Sam.

I have recently learned that Penn and Teller are not the only celebrities to look for at the Everi Booth. Stephen Bogart, son of film legends Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall will be on hand to cut the ribbon for Everi's new Casablanca slot machine at 10 am on Wednesday, September 28. Bogart will be autographing DVD copies of the classic movie. Don't forget to mark your calendars and stop by Booth 1116 and meet the stars.

(3) Fruit Ninja: Juicy Jackpots is a stand alone premium participation game leveraging Everi's popular high rise cabinet. The game has four bonus features, and the Fruit Ninja Arcade Bonus offers skill based gaming entertainment elements (...not a big draw for us older gamers.) Players slice fruit using the game's unique Swipe Touch technology while operators are given the flexibility to set the skill level. I'm sure Everi is hoping this skill based bonus will appeal to you younger gamers. If you have been playing in casinos that offer slot tournaments played on Everi games (as one of my locals does) this game represents one of the many new features for Everi's award-winning slot tournament solution, taking tournament play to the next level.

(4)Entertainment players - but probably not core gamers - will want to see the four new games based on timeless characters from the DreamWorks Classics library. The first of the four to be debuted at G2E is Underdog. The slot is based on the cartoon series, and the game will be played on a new 5 reel, 27-line high def cabinet.

(5) The second game for the young at heart is Casper the Friendly Ghost. Casper has been entertaining fans since the 1930's. Now he will haunt the slot floors in this new Everi game.

(6) Another new addition to Everi's High Rise Games series is Richie Rich based on the "poor little rich boy" first introduced in 1953. The five reel video game will feature an 8-tier progressive and multiple bonus features.  Maybe we'll all win enough to be poor little rich kids playing this game.

(7)  The last game to talk about  is Smokin' Hot Stuff. This game is the first-ever licensed game for Everi's three-reel mechanical Skyline series. It is based on the classic Harvey comic character, Hot Stuff the Little Devil who debuted in 1957.  The game is a tier progressive game that utilizes the unique features of the nearly seven foot tall Skyline cabinet with LCD lighting.

I'll close with just a few words about Everi's TourEvent of Champion's Slot Tournament that will culminate in an exciting finale September 28 to take place at XS Nightclub in Las Vegas. After five months of preliminary qualifying tournaments across the US, Canada, and Peru, the finalists will gather in Las Vegas and compete for the top prize in the Million Dollar Event. The games are scheduled to begin at 5 pm Pacific Time Wednesday, Sept 28 at XS Nightclub in the beautiful Wynn/Encore resort. It will also be live streamed over the internet at www.twitch.tv/everigames.  Now in its 5th year, the tournament will be awarding $1.3 million in total cash prizes with the first place winner earning a cool million dollars.

The tournament kicked off April 30 at the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, WA with a record-beaking crowd of players. Officially certified by the Guinness World Records as the largest slot tournament, 3,173 slot players participated on a single day to set the new record. Over the 5 months that followed, Tournament busses traveled nearly 42,000 miles to visit the participating casinos. Over 200,000 slot players took part in this year's qualifying event.

It's too late for you to sign up to play, but as a precursor to the September 28 finale, the third annual TournEvent for CHARITIES will take place at 2 pm PT on the previous day, Sept 27, at Everi's booth 1116. Celebrities and Media Personalities will compete in a fun filled tournament on behalf of their favorite charities. Penn and Teller will be two of the celebrities trying to win for their favorite charities. I haven't seen a list of the other contestants. All G2E attendees are invited to visit Everi's booth and cheer on the players.  I did that last year and watched Carrot Top go down in defeat to a local newsman whose name I don't even remember.  It was crowded, but it was fun.  I expect we could say that about all of G2E...it's crowded, but it's fun.  See you there.

You need to go to the players' YouTube sites and see for yourself.  And there will be another recap show to watch when the week is over. It's been fun and better times are to come. March Madness Slot Tournament - Player Messages

Do you watch slot videos of the games in your favorite casino before you risk your money playing them? A lot of us do. Do you sometimes feel you’ve gotten to know the people posting these games pretty well, listening to their play and reading their comments about their games and their interchanges with their regular viewers? I know I do. Do you wish sometimes these YouTube celebrities would include a selfie in their film so you could see how the image you’ve formed of them in your mind matches reality? There are comments online saying as much, and videos including shots of family members and friends joining in the fun are always popular ones. Shows like Slot Talk are popular videos also for the same reason. They let us get to know our social media friends as real people, maybe even real friends,

I hope you read my previous post and saw the preview of the exciting March Madness Slot Tournament getting underway this month. It’s not too late to view it if you haven’t. There are also Ilnks to each of the participants’ sites on last Sunday’s blog to make it easy for you to find their game posts once they are on line. You’ve probably watched a lot of videos by the 16 gamers playing in the tournament and already have your favorite you want to win. If you don’t, you can still enjoy the competition by supporting the East or West Coast. But what would be even more fun would be to watch the March Madness - Player Messages  video provided by Slot Traveler and get to know these popular players as people. This great video shows almost all of the Sweet 16 players introducing themselves and their personalities as they lobby for your support.  A couple are camera shy, but that in itself gives you a clue to what they are like as people. The schedule of when the individual videos will drop on YouTube is also a part of the player’s messages video. I’ll include it here too. I’ve subscribed to them all. You should too. I can hardly wait to see who wins.

In case you don't have the schedule of play, here it is:

March 10th UPDATE: I've been telling you all about the March Madness Tournament. Well, the battle is on! You can now watch all of the First Round Bracket Battles.

March Madness - Slots of Fun for Everyone

I spend a lot of time watching slot videos. I bet some of you do too. It’s a good way to get to know the games and how to play them without spending any money. It’s also a good way to get to know the YouTube players, their personalities, their risk tolerance, how much they’ll bet on a spin and how much they’re willing to lose chasing the big win. Some players are very serious about what they do, pedantic even. You watch those games and you are taught about volatility and hit frequency and how the new revisions of games differ from the original old standbys. You watch other players and they never even look at a pay table. They just jump right in and learn the game by playing the game. And they seem to be having so much fun that it makes you want to play their game and have fun too.

Lately there’s a new reason to watch these films - the slot tournaments. These tournaments combine the excitement of sports with the thrill of winning. The challenge of head-to-head competition. Two men sit down to play, but only one can win! The victor defeats not only the casino, but the other gamer as well. And what makes it bigger and better? More competition, more competitors, more excitement, more victories, more fun. The slot tournament makes watching the games even better, giving the viewer someone to cheer for while enjoying the play of the game.

The competitions started off simply enough. For the past year we’ve all been watching slot competitions where ShinobiYT has played the same game in Southern California’s Native American Casinos as Vegas Low Roller has played in the Las Vegas Nevada resorts. Every Wednesday their cadres of fans watch the match-up to see who won that week. The rules are simple, each bets $20 and plays until they bust or double their money. The winner is the one with the biggest bankroll when that happens.

The competitive fun expanded quickly to other innovative match-ups. The Slot Video Creators (SVC), for instance, is a group of 9 slot machine video YouTube channels that coordinate slot challenges monthly. The competition matches 3-4 channels each playing the same game. The February 15 game, for instance, was Sons of Anarchy by Aristocrat. The Challengers were Diana Evoni, Nyphinix 13, and Albert’s Slot Channel. The competition is a $50 challenge, with each player betting $1.80 and stopping after their first bonus or whenever they choose after a no limit re-spin feature. If you want to know who won, visit any player’s channel. Subscribe while you’re there if you haven’t already. If you haven’t been watching these bi-monthly competitions, you’ll want to start. Other SVG group members are Albert’s Slot Channel, Brent Wolgamott, Casinomannj, CMCT, Desirae Krogman, DProxima, and McGlaven’s SlotGasm.

These slot competitions are fun, but they’re nothing compared with what is in store for this coming month: March Madness. Slot Traveler has been hard at work to make this slot tournament like no other tournament you’ve seen on YouTube slots before. Eight pairs of players - 16 gamers in all - will be competing in the Sweet 16 Round playing 8 different games chosen at random during the first elimination round. You’ll be able to see the games as they’re dropped, starting March 7 on any of the player’s channels. I’ll put their channel names and location here to make it easy for you to find your favorite player’s channel. The 8 winners will advance to the second round of play starting March 14. The Elite 8 will become the Final Four and eventually the two semi-finalists will meet in the Final Matchup. You won’t want to miss any of it.

Hopefully, you’ve all seen the Promo Week trailer with Slot Traveler in his referee uniform on your computers this weekend. You can also watch the Slot Talk March Madness review video, where Brent and Manny discuss the tournament. There will be a first round recap show on Slot Talk to watch Friday, March 11. I’ll be updating this blog also as the games are played. Check back for more updates.

Spin N Win: High Rollin' on the High Seas

Twenty years ago in 1996, slot manufacturer IGT (International Game Technologies) introduced their popular Wheel of Fortune Slot Machine to the gaming world. Those wheels are spinning still. The game quickly became the favorite of gamers everywhere, particularly little old ladies. Based on the popular TV game show of the same name, the launch cemented IGT’s hold in wide area progressive technology and turned thousands of players into instant millionaires. Many claim it is the most popular slot game of all time, and more than 200 variations can be found in more than 20 countries around the world. The game has awarded more than $3 billion in jackpots and created more than a thousand millionaires according to Casino Journal. Makes you dizzy just thinking of it!

If you aren’t familiar with the old song that inspired the slot, pause a minute and watch the video before reading on.

Wheel fans can celebrate the 20th anniversary of the IGT game in a variety of ways this year. The slot manufacturer and Carnival Cruise Lines are rewarding players with a variety of special promotions to celebrate the anniversary. Wheel watchers have a chance to win free cruises along with a variety of other exciting giveaways throughout 2016. Cruise shipboard events throughout 2016 include games and themed on-board activities every sailing. Passengers will all spin the popular on-board wheel whose stops include a wide range of prizes, everything from Carnival logo items to scratch-off games where some lucky guests will win up to $30,000. One big prize that can be won on the ship’s lucky wheel is an entry into the $200,000 Spin N Sail slot tournament in November.

Throughout 2016, Carnival and IGT’s partner casinos will be giving away hundreds of free cruises on their Carnival Magic liner. All winners of the cruise will participate in the onboard Spin N Sail slot tournament featuring IGT’s Wheel of Fortune slot machines during the 8 day Caribbean cruise in November 2016. The $200,000 prize pool provided by IGT includes a $100,000 grand prize to be taken home by one lucky winner. IGT customers across the USA and Canada will host qualifying events where winners are awarded the free cruise for two, a prize that an entry into the grand finale tournament. I am sure the news media and casino promotion materials will provide details as it becomes available.

Already TV hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White have been on location taping customized segments of the anniversary show aboard a Carnival Cruise Line ship to air during Spin N Sail week. Prizes during that week March 21 - 25 will include cruises to exotic destinations such as the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska. But you don’t have to be a contestant on the show to win. Viewers are encouraged to watch the TV show Wheel of Fortune during “Spin N Sail Week” and enter each night’s bonus puzzle solution at wheeloffortune.com Twenty winning entries will be selected to win the eight-day Carnival Cruise aboard the Carnival Magic and a guaranteed spot in the $200,000 tournament. Who knows? It could be you! And if it is, you might even be the lucky slot spinner to win the $100,000 grand prize!

Here’s another YouTube videos to bring back memories of fun on the high seas and to put you in the mood to win this year’s 20th Anniversary Spin N Sail slot tournament.  Enjoy.

"TournEvent" of Slot Champions

Everybody loves slot tournaments. You play as fast as you can, pushing your slot button as rapidly as you can, to amass as many points as you’re able in the time allotted. If you’re lucky, when the session ends, your jackpot total might qualify you to advance to the next level to compete with other first round winners for the big bucks.

This summer, for the third year, MultiMedia Games is sponsoring a competition to crown the world’s best slot tournament player. It could be you. The match is called the TournEvent of Champions, and, If Lady Luck smiles your way, you might just be the one to take home the grand prize of $1 million this September.

Step 1: You’ve got to enter to win. Compete in the semi-final round at your home casino to win your Golden Pass. Here in Southern CA, for instance, you can play at Barona, Morongo, Spotlight 29, Sycuan, and Valley View. Check with the casino’s player’s club for details on how to qualify for the preliminary round where you play. Each casino has its own set of rules to participate. This is not just a California competition either. A list of other participating casinos across the nation can be found at TournEvent.com. Don’t wait too long. Some deadlines may have already passed. Some will pass soon. Barona players had to earn their chance to compete on either May 12 or May 26, for instance. May 12 has come and gone, so don’t let May 26 pass you by if you want to play at that San Diego resort.

Step 2: If you make it past the semi-finals, return with your Golden Pass to compete with other winners at your casino’s final tournament. Each winning casino representative will take home $800 in airfare to/from Las Vegas for themselves and a guest, a 4 night stay including hotel accommodations, transportation to and from the airports, $500 in food and beverage credit, and a seat at the National TournEvent of Champions. (And, yes, I’m sorry to say, you’ll also take home a W2G for gambling winnings or a 1099 for prizes for your tax return next year!)

Step 3: If you’re a local winner, pack your bags and head to the Wynn Las Vegas XS Nightclub on September 29th and 30th for your chance to win your share of $1.3 million. You’ll be competing against more than 200 local champions from 100-plus casinos from the United States, Canada, and Peru. The Grand champion will take home the grand prize of $1,000,000, and your chance is as good as anyone's.  How exciting is that!
