Three Days of Halloween Hijinks with Batman and Robin

October 28: Classic TV Batman. The Joker is Wild

October 29: Dark Knight Trilogy, Villains  of Gotham City
video by Random$$Slots

October 30: Batman: Rogues Gallery
video by Brent's Lucky (and Gay) Slot Channel

Halloween is scary in Gotham City.
So many villains. It’s really a pity.
It wouldn’t be safe to trick-or-treat
Without Batman and Robin on your street.

The Dark Knight always wears a mask,
Bruce Wayne is equal to the task.
Dick Grayson helps if there’s a fight
When villains and heroes share the night

Put on your costume, have no fear
The Dynamic Duo’s standing near.
The Caped Crusader will save the day,
Make sure Halloween is here to stay.

He won’t let the Joker steal your candy.
(Knowing Batman sure comes in handy.)
I bet the Riddler has nothing to say,
And Catwoman runs off the other way.

Win big and take home a huge bag of cash,
It’s better by far than a candy stash.
Play it safe, Citizen. Have lots of fun.
Halloween’s a great night for everyone.

October 31: Wicked Winnings III
video by Random $$ Slots

A special “great job” to eleven great guys,
And one classy gal. Thanks for sharing your game.
I subscribe to you all; you know you’re the best.
Without you to watch, it would not be the same.

I can’t do what you do, and put games on film
For others to watch and replay.
So I hope everyone who had YouTube fun
Subscribed, liked, & commented today.

We’ve  seen Monsters and Witches. We visited Oz,
Found Ghosts in the Graveyard and Vampires that bite,
Explored Haunted Houses, and went Trick-or-Treat
With Batman and Robin one night.

We’ve overcome Zombies, and killed Walking Dead,
Busted Ghosts and the Marshmallow Man.
Elvira gave us a thrill, Count Dracula a chill.
Now we’ve had all the fun that we can.

October has ended, so take off your masks,
Put your Halloween costumes away.
There’s just one thing to do, and then we are through,
Just one more SPECIAL game you must play.

An April film, in October disguise.
So clever that you, can not trust your eyes.

If you’ve seen it before, you know what’s in store.
An outstanding edit, a remarkable spin.
If you haven’t a clue, watch what Random can do,

Lets all just pretend,
his amazing great spin....

.... is  JENNIFER’s GOOD WIN

Vampire's Embrace

He casts no shadow on the floor,
Ne reflection in the glass
He drinks no wine or water
He dines on no repast

He cannot cross your threshold
If you don’t invite him through your door
And if you do, you’ll surely rue
What the vampire has in store.

'Cause when you’re caught in his embrace,
His bloody fangs close to your face,
Wrapped in his cape, you can’t escape,
HE’S ABOUT TO DRINK YOUR BLOOD!

SlotTraveler, get us out of this fright-mare!

October 24: Elvira’s Secret
Elvira's Secret

Elvira is a buxom vamp
Inspiring lusty dreams
Seducing you with ribald camp
But nothing’s as it seems

For the Mistress of the Dark
Has hidden one small fact.
The sexy show is just a lark.
Her secret is: it’s all an act.
Guess she doesn’t REALLY “tingle all over when you win like that.”

NV Fantasy Sport Sites Shut Down

If you watch pro football, and I’m sure most of you do, you probably also belong to a fantasy league or two which you play with your friends. Most sports sites such as ESPN and Yahoo provide you with everything you need — player rankings, team stats, injury reports — and if that's not enough, there are plenty of sites on the internet that specialize in fantasy stats, projections and advice. Every week you can trade players and most leagues let you pick up free agents once they've cleared waivers. There are games that set salary caps and allow competitors to draw from the same talent pool, just as long as you keep your total team cost under that cap. Sites such as ESPN and Yahoo don’t charge you anything to play, and they don’t pay out prizes to the winners. Some sties like NFL.com and ESPN have free games that also feature prizes.

Because it’s more fun to play if you can win a little money when it’s all done, most leagues play their games like office pools where everybody chips in at the the start of the season and the pool is split among the winners according to agreed on percentages at Super Bowl time. Illegal? Yes, probably, but who cares. Like the NCAA Final Four basketball pools, it’s mostly for fun and the prizes aren’t big enough to waste the taxman’s time enforcing gambling laws. If you win and it bothers your conscience, report your prize on line 21 as other income - along with your slot wins.  :)

But there are also many sites that have many different styles of games with entry fees and prizes that can be won.

You probably read in your local newspaper or saw on your electronic news device this morning that yesterday, Oct 15, Nevada declared fantasy sports to be gambling, taking the first steps to shut down the sites such as DraftKings and FanDuel where people now pay to play. I'm sure you've seen their ads on the internet if you visit any sports-related sites. These businesses have been operating in the state of Nevada until now without a gambling license. The NV ruling means that daily or weekly fantasy sports must cease immediately according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Does this have any effect on you and your friends’ football pools? Probably not. Nevada’s decision doesn’t affect season-long fantasy sports, and most of these pools pay out at the end of the season, not every week.

Draft King and FanDuel argue that their sites provide games of skill and not chance, and that they are therefore protected by the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act which carved out a specific exemption allowing fantasy sports.  The distinction has allowed the industry to dodge the type of regulation that governs traditional casinos and sports books. Avoiding being labeled gambling has made the games palatable to professional sports leagues that have partnered with and even invested in the sites. Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys and Robert Kraft of the New England Patriots have stakes in DraftKing. Until now the sites have been available in all but five states: Iowa, Wisconsin, Arizona, Louisiana, and Montana. It was allowed everywhere else, including California. Now, unless they are granted a NV license, these companies could face felony fines and 10 years in prison for running an illegal gambling site.

This comes on the heels of the questioning of integrity of DraftKings games after a data breach involving a DraftKings employee. On Sept 27, an employee of DraftKings, Ethan Haskell, posted information about how often fantasy players had chosen different National Football League players in a million dollar tournament. The information was accidentally released before some of the NFL games had started on Sunday. That same weekend, Haskell, a mid-level content manager, won $350,000 at rival FanDuel, leading to questions about whether he had used insider information to game the system. Employees at daily fantasy sites are not allowed to play in games run by their employers. Until now, however, they had been free to play at other sites. The companies both say there was no wrongdoing, but the New York Attorney General is asking for more information, including a list of employees with access to insider data and details on how they control for potential fraud.

I’m sure we haven’t heard the last of this.

G2E 2015: Aristocrat Highlights

I am excited to see all the new games from G2E showing up on YouTube this week. I can hardly wait until they show up in our casinos as well. I shared some of the Scientific Games films made by  Random $$ Slots, Brent’s Lucky (& Gay) Slot Channel, and Dianaevoni here a few days ago. Today I’m going to give you a taste of what Aristocrat has in store for us in the near future. But first I want to give you some links to some great slot channels where you can find these games for yourself as they are posted onYouTube. New games are being added daily, so you’ll want to check back often.

If you’ve been following these filmers, you know they have different styles of presenting their films. Some film without speaking at all, but give you a lot of information in the printed narrative to explain what is going on. Some chat about the games as they play, sharing what’s going on with their friends. Most watch their language so as not to offend their viewers, but a few - and you know who I mean - frequently drop the f-bomb and other expletives which not everyone finds entertaining. I’ve included them for those who enjoy that humor. If you have films of G2E, and you are not on this list, I’m sorry. I did the best I could. If I didn’t know about your videos so I could include you, send me a message with your information, and I will edit the list. Here are the good ones I know about. Click on the filmer's name to go to his play list.

There are a few things to look for as you watch the games. Here’s the most exciting special feature I know about. SDGuy has a role in the new Walking Dead slot! He’s one of the pick-em characters for the bonus. The film below is the one from Shamus, but you can also hear Brent point out SDGuy’s role in the game in his video too.

Brent has a lot of games to show you, but I’ve chosen to include his Elvira because he seems to enjoy pointing out certain aspects of her anatomy so much.

Game of Thrones is one of my favorite TV shows and series of fantasy novels.  You can watch it as filmed by one of my favorite videographers: Random $$ Slots, who I suspect has never seen the show at all.

The final film is by CT Slotters. This is the first of their films I have ever watched, and I’ve chosen Miss Kitty Gold for their initial view. They have other good films on their link that you can watch also. I received a recommendation from a viewer a few hours ago that Dianaevoni's Miss Kitty film is also fun to watch.

I can’t show it all. There are Aristocrat games that aren’t on the list, but you can find and watch at the six sites I gave you earlier…Downton Abbey, Ted,  A Christmas Story to name a few. Don’t forget to check back with the gamers above as they add more videos for you to watch. Enjoy!

UPDATE: Saturday night, October 10. Miss Kitty Gold.  I'm not a slot fanatic, but I like to read slot fanatic threads now and then. Tonight I was browsing on their site and found a thread started by LVLADYGAMBLER called Miss Kitty...the sequel?? Let me quote it to you. "Hello my Slot Fanatics friends, We are tossing around some game ideas over here for making new versions of classic Aristocrat titles. Miss Kitty came up. Because I love her, I thought I would pose a couple of questions and get some additional slot player feedback. If you play Miss Kitty, what do you like about the game? What would you like to see in a Miss Kitty II game? Thanks."  She signed her post Veronica, Aristocrat Marketing Department & mini-slot fanatic.

Veronica got a lot of replies to her question. The one I found particularly interesting was posted 6/10/2014, 12:10 AM and was written by slot fanatic and YouTuber DProxima. I'm sure all of you have enjoyed his posts. Here's what he told the lady from Aristocrat over a year ago.

"I love the sticky wilds, but would love a game where if another lands on an already stuck wild, it multiplies the wild - essentially adding a multiplier. This can repeat too ideally with no end. Of course your spins are limited but perhaps when a multiplier is given, it adds an additional spin too. Yes, more volatility, but that's why I enjoy many of your games."

Sounds familiar, doesn't it. Sounds like Miss Kitty Gold, doesn't it?I wonder if DProxima remembers giving Aristocrat the idea for the new Miss Kitty Gold slot? Someone really should ask him.

G2E 2015: Scientific Games Highlights

If any of you reading this have ever been to G2E in Las Vegas, you know there is so much going on that there’s no way to take it all in and remember it all. When you get back home and look at what you filmed and what other YouTubers have shared of their experiences on their films, you realize there is so much, much more that you could have done and seen - and you wish you could go back and do it all over again.  At least that’s the way I feel.

Well, I don’t film videos, but I’ve watched a lot of great games and demos by other players on line, and today I want to direct you to some of the best that have already been put up on YouTube to entertain the rest of us. The list will not be complete because as the videographers edit the films they shot at G2E, they add more to their play lists. You will need to bookmark those sites and return every few days to see what’s new to have the total experience. I will also comment on others in the next few days.

If you haven’t watched other players’ games before, you’ll find that the YouTubers generally fall into one of two categories: the ones who film to educate and the ones who film to entertain. Sometimes they manage to do both. If I want to be educated, to learn about different slots and how to play them, the two filmers I turn to are Random$$Slots and ShinobiYT, two of my very favorite YouTubers with very different personalities and very different ways of explaining slots. Shinobi explains what is happening and what to look for in your game as if talking with a friend about the game. He didn’t make it to G2E this year so I won't be showing any of his films.

Random explains not only what is happening, but he frequently explains why it is happening. No matter how much you think you know, you will learn something more if you study his explanations. Random$$Slots is posting his G2E videos at digdia.

Random$$Slots does not talk to you about the slots you are watching as you are viewing them, but he gives you a lot of information anyway. He always films the pay tables, and his comment pages will often have long paragraphs of explanation about the games. He will add editorial comments to the films sometimes and and will point out features to watch for to increase your understanding. He also answers questions posed by his viewers on his comment page.

If you were a student of game theory, you would want him for your professor. He will give you more than just game play. If you are interested in things like the keynote address at G2E or the other conference discussions on topics such as skill based games that you were not able to attend, you can view his films of them from his site at digdia.com. Random’s slot play films will include a lot of information shared by the manufacturer’s reps he films. You watch Random$$Slots games if you want to be educated while having fun.

If you want to be entertained when you watch the new slot games and demos, there are a number of good sources. I am not able to name them all - there are too many — but I’ll talk about a few who have filmed some excellent video at G2E this year.  If you want to watch someone who can get you excited about a new game, you probably want to watch Brent’s Lucky (& Gay) Slot Channel.

Brent and Random both have films of the new Cher Live slot machine. The approach to filming this new game illustrates the differences in personality of the two filmers.

You can watch Random’s game HERE. In his film the company rep explains and illustrates the various features of the game, and you finish with a good idea of what to look for when you play.

Brent, like most slot players doesn’t worry about all that. He jumps right into the game and plays for fun without worrying about the optimal way to play, and he and his viewers all have a great time. You can watch his game HERE.  And that’s the beauty of watching YouTube videos - whatever your style, there’s a filmer out there that will show you what you want to see.

The Cher video is a new one by Scientific Games, which also owns WMS and Bally. Other Scientific Games you might want to look for include the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Margaritaville, and Caddyshack.

One final video from Scientific Games (formerly Bally) that I want to show you before we move on to other companys’ new games is the new Bart Simpson game. Everybody who is a YouTube viewer or a slot fanatic knows and loves Dianaevoni. Diana is friendly and enthusiastic and is always a lot of fun. She has recorded a demo of the Simpson’s game that you can watch. The game has not been released yet, but you can bet Diana will be one of the first to play it when it is.  Be sure and watch how Bart’s hand interacts with the player's during the bonus.

G2E 2015: Everi and the TournEvent of Champions

One week after an exhausting day viewing exhibits at the my first ever visit to Global Gaming Expo, I’m ready to share my thoughts and highlights of this exciting event. There are many videos already posted by YouTubers that you will want to see - none of which I filmed - and I will give you links to films by talented videographers such as Shamus of Slots and Random$$Slots which will show you what you can expect to see in the casinos in the coming year. But first, a little recap of this year’s TournEvent of Champions.

The slot tournament was sponsored by Everi, a company that used to be known as Multimedia. The competition was the culmination of a year-long contest that started last April that included 250,000 entrants in 99 preliminary competitions throughout the country. You may have seen the big bus at your favorite local casino this summer. 182 finalists were invited to Vegas to compete for a share of 1.4 million on September 30 this year.

After six rounds of thrilling competition at the Wynn Las Vegas’s XS Nightclub, Everi crowned its victor, Rita Kellerman, and presented her with the $1 million first place prize and champton’s ring. Kellerman represented the Ho-Chunk Gaming-Wisconsin Dells casino and survived two days of loud and intense competition to emerge the winner. “I can’t believe I won,” she said. This is the biggest thing that ever happened to me, except for getting married of course.”

Because my Vegas visit was so short, I didn’t get to see the tournament action leading to the TournEvent of Champions, but I did get to view part of the Charity Competition played at the Everi Booth on the exhibitor floor of the convention center September 29. Everi kicked off the championship with its second annual TournEvent of Charities featuring a mix of celebrities such as Carrot Top and local and industry media members squaring off on behalf of their favorite charities. In the end, Steve Burke, publisher of Indian Gaming Magazine, the source for much of the information in my previous series earlier claimed victory and the $10,000 winner’s check for NIGA Spirit of Sovereignty.  The remaining charities were winners in their own right, sharing in the $40,000 total contribution made by Everi.

Everi’s charity of choice, Save a Warrior, also benefited, receiving a $40,000 check from the company. Save a Warrior benefits returning veterans and active-duty military personnel struggling with PTSD as a result of their service.

Plans are already underway for the 2016 event, and Everi expects the party to be even bigger. The $1 million prize will be back in play, and the 5 year annversary event is slated to coincide once again with the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas.

Everi featured 140 games at G2E this year, including 70 new titles at its booth according to press releases. If you visit digdia.com you can watch two of them Gargoyle and Journey to the Center of the Earth which have already been posted by Random$$Slots. More are on the way.
